How Do Run Flats Work?
Unlike standard tyres that collapse under puncture loads, run-flats use thick, reinforced rubber sidewalls to temporarily support the vehicle. They are designed to let you drive for up to 50 miles at a maximum speed of 50mph following a puncture, allowing you to reach a safe fitting station or home.
Can You Repair a Run Flat Tyre?
Most manufacturers recommend replacing punctured run-flat tyres rather than repairing them. This is because it is extremely difficult to know if the internal sidewall structure has been compromised during the period of low-pressure driving.
